Workers Assembly Defines Spiritual Duties
By Noni Baby Pascual

The first Workers Assembly for the newly installed workers of 2010-2011 was held last July 11, 2010 at Tuklong San Jose, SVD Seminary, Quezon City. It was attended by around 120 workers ably representing each apostolate and ministry of the community. The Opening Prayer was led by Sis. Tess Capiral while Sis Sally Rey read the day’s Scripture. With the theme, “Pagbuklurin ang ating layunin para sa isang mithiin” , BOT Vice President Lorenz Tabilog gave the Welcome Remarks.

The Council of Elders composed of Couples Lony Rhodora Bohol , Romy Remy Lagman, and Vigie Nelly Ventura shared their inspirational memories of their early stint with the Mater Dei ME Community. Bro. Romy Lagman shared 3 important things to remember in doing things as workers : 1) work for God’s Glory 2). Be humble 3) Endeavor a sense of commitment . Couples Vigie Nelly Ventura elaborated on commitment not only as workers but also as couples while Sis Rhodora Bohol shared that we can hone our sense of humility and commitment even in one’s daily chores for the family.

Our Guest Speaker, Bro. Obet Cabrillas, equipped our workers with a Triple A : 1) Attitude which escalates with the g-force. Without qualms he said “Go high with your dreams!” 2) Aptitude – Evangelization is saying things from your heart and saying things across the hearts. As workers it will be normal that you will feel awkwardness in trying to do work for the Lord. Kaya nararapat lang na “subukan mo, “ “ kayanin mo “ at “patinuin ang puso mo” then you will acquire the skills. Once you have the skills and have the confidence to share them, it will become automatic. 3) Attitude – there should always be that confidence in knowing “Kapiling mo AKO” in everything you do.

Finally, Fr. Domie our Spiritual Director defined the Spiritual duties as follow:

The Armour Bearers must:

1. Provide strength for his leader – “Kayo ang pinanggagalingan ng lakas ng leader. So always be positive”
2. Have a deep sense of respect for the leader. – “A deep sense of acceptance for the leader’s personality.”
3. Try to understand the thoughts of the leader.
4. Always walk with agreement to the leader.
5. Always see to it that the goal of the leader is achieved.
6. Have endless strength without giving way to harsh treatment (Peter2:20)
7. Know how to follow orders/instructions
8. Always be a support of his leader (to sustain, comfort, defend)
9. Be a good communicator with the leader (Establish TRUST)
10. Give the credit where credit is due
11. Minister with courage to his leader.

And as a word of advice , reminded the workers that “amidst the responsibilities, to allow the Holy Spirit to rule the hearts. Always know how to put aside the spirit of rebellion and spirit of unforgiveness. Be faithful in your rightful space.”

Fr. Domie then led the workers to the next function room for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.
