Last 27, 28 and 29 October 2006, a total of 15 families, numbering 74 people attended the activity. The Mater Dei M.E. Ugnayan Community of Gen. T. de Leon chaired by Shephered Linda Peres the Headcouple of Family Life Apostolate under the Commission of Family Life, Parish of the Holy Cross facilitated the event. The team priest was Rev. Fr. Roger Cruz and the team families Mon Malou Sebastian and family and Phil Christy Sumera and family. The event was a rare chance for the families who were present to renew their ties and vows to one another. The presence of the sponsoring class and their families added more meaning and importance to the affair. The event was an ideal and impressive culmination of three long years of hiatus for the program.
The importance of the activity lies in the purpose of its concept. It is purposely aimed to strengthen the ties that bind the family, love and respect. It perfectly underscores the family as the most important unit of society that translates to the enhancement of the spiritual and social well being of each and everyone in the family. The family being the most important fiber of society, a spiritually strong and happy family means a robust and healthy society. In comparison to a fabric, the family if closely knit, wash and carefully laundered would remain whole and sturdy in spite of frequent use. This kind of activity is remarkably suited to make each and every Christian family an essential part that will keep the society in its stable state of health. In its totality this program is a fitting tribute to the realization of this objective. Every Christian families and any family for that matter should be given the opportunity to develop and nurture under the guidance of people who are themselves recipients of the spirit of love and affection of the Almighty. The M.E. Community is formed to serve as guardians of the family, to keep it spiritually equipped to live according to the precepts of harmonious relationship and kinship. In this way we can greatly contribute to its development to be ideally perfect in the eyes of God and society. In our unique way, we labor and consolidate our efforts to realize what God imposes on everyone and every family, that is to be always one with Him through all eternity, so that one day when we all come face to face with the Creator, we could gladly dwell in the comfort that we have done something good for the family which God purposely intended to remain true to the ultimate purpose of creation, that we remain holy in His eyes so that we may be able to stay and live with Him forever.
The rejuvenating experience was a savory feat and a gratifying experience for all the attendees. As such, there seem to be the universal notion among the families that the event must be repeated whenever it is possible. It was indeed a momentous affair full of confidence on the part of its proponents that the same would be beneficial to other families who would be interested to join similar events in the future. The parish priest Rev. Fr. Domingo “Memeng” Salonga personally endorsed the program and he hopes to hold more similar programs in his parish . There was even a caucus that new team families would be trained for the purpose of holding such kind of activity.
The experiences of the families who were part of the activity would attest that it was indeed a resounding success. |
