The short visit in the country of the widow of one of our pillars, Sonia (Ray) Zolina, was an opportunity for the other organizers of the community to socialize and dine together on December 9, 2008 at the Shangri-la West.
Ding Susan Mayor, Gonio Remy Yorobe, Romy Remy Lagman, Lony Rhodora Bohol, Willie Rose Montales, Ed Cora Depano, Abet Coy Pangcog and Sonia, partook of the sumptuous Chinese menu which was ordered earlier by couple Gonio and Remy. The group missed Vigie Nelly Ventura who was not able to come because they could not leave their grandson alone at their home in Cavite. While partaking of their meal, they talked about how Sonia was able to cope up with the absence of Ray, how she is spending most of her weekdays with her grandchildren and her weekends at a part time job in Richmond, Canada, about how Coy is spending the early phase of her retirement from government office traveling, and many more updates from the rest of the elders. The group also reflectively looked back at the past when the community was still at her growing years under their direction and supervision. Finally, they all agreed to see other again at the Christmas Encounter of the community on December 28, 2008 at the QC Sports Club.
Just like what usually happens when friends meet after a long absence, the ladies most especially, continued their tete-a-tete after the final farewell at the lobby of the restaurant while their husbands patiently waited for them. If only sis. Sonia Zolina could extend her vacation here in the country before going back home to Canada on December 13, 2008, the group would have planned another get-together to enjoy each other’s company once again. |
