| Ecclesial Teams Learn Mutual Empathy |

After ten long years, the Ecclesial Teams have once again united. Through the initiative of the new MEFP officers, a seminar entitled Workshop on Mutual Empathy was conducted last May 22, 2010 at the Spritual Pastoral Center Building at the Ateneo de Manila University. It was well attended by priests and team couples alike. Our team couples who attended the seminar were Lony Rhodora Bohol, Ed Cora Depano, Romy Remy Lagman, Willie Rose Montales, Jun Adel Tam,basacan and Bill Ding Zamora.
The seminar/workshop was designed to enhance the Ecclesial teams’ capability on empathy and accredit participating team couples in conducting ME Weekends. Picture taking of team couples and priest for the official MEFP ID also took place during the break. Team couples who were in attendance were certified and endorsed by the MEFP as official team couples authorized to conduct ME Weekends.
Fr. Ruben Tanseco conducted the seminars and discussed the significant role empathy plays in achieving a good marital relationship. A memorable exercise during the workshop was the dialogue between couples. The participants were divided into 7 small groups and two volunteer couples from each of the groups were asked to share and dialogue on an issue plaguing their relationship. It was a moving moment as couples voiced their concerns and learned to empathize on their significant others. At the end of couple dialogue, the rest of the couples in the group shared their thoughts regarding the discourse. Most of which showed strong empathy and support for the couples who’ve shared their difficulties. It was a truly remarkable assembly. Fr. Ruben Tanseco and the MEFP president even recommended that the workshop be conducted on a regular basis for team couples.
As the workshop came to close, an air of serenity and new found understanding enveloped the couples and the event concluded with a celebration of the Holy Eucharist concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Ruben Tanseco and Rev. Fr. Arnel Abuan – all in all a touching and apt ending to a successful event. |
