It was a sunny Sunday. June 20, 2010 at the NIA Covered Court, Quezon City, the MDME Community gathered to celebrate Fathers’ Day in a different ambiance. They called it, the Family Fun Day and lined up a lot of activities where the whole family will enjoy. Breakfast was ready with “Lomie ni Domie,” Lugaw and puto pandesal and coffee for sale to beef up the fund raising campaign.
Having filled the stomachs, the members ready to fill their hearts and spirit. Hence there was a Holy Mass celebrated by Fr. Cesar Caber, who himself felt honored to be given the chance to rekindle ties with our community.
After the mass, the organizers announced the groupings and prepared for the Parade of Colours . With the roaring beats of the drum , the Blue Team led by BOT Jun Adel Tambasacan and grandson Zeke Gabriel entered into the covered court, followed by the Red Team led by BOT Noy Gay Manalo and BOT Nono Cecile Delgado, then the Yellow Team with BOT Pres Couple Ding Susan Mayor and BOT Willie Rose Montales and finally the Green Team led by BOT Jojie Fe Guballa and BOT Ed Depano.
When all teams have assembled , Chaircouple Nelson Lilian Morales lighted up the Torch for Shep Mon Giron of the Green Team to go for the Torch Run. Passing the Torch on to BOT Jun Tambasacan for the run of the Blue Team , then Sader William Montales, Jr. representing Yellow Team ran to give the Torch to BOT Noy Manalo of the Red Team . BOT Noy Manalo finally handed over the lighted Torch to BOT President Ding Mayor.
To signal the start of the Sports Activities, BOT President Couple Ding Susan Mayor said that the appropriate theme for the day is “ Masayang Pamilya, Produkto ng Tapat na Asawa. ” signifying the true flame of togetherness in our families, the glow in the children’s faces , the brightness of the couple-power spirit , laughing, teasing and having fun as one big Mater Dei Family. Then BOT Pres. Ding Mayor finally lighted up the Eternal Flame and declared the Family Fun Day open!
As the respective Teams lined up, BOT Loren Tabilog led The Oath of Sportsmanship. Then the contests began.

The Cheering Competition which offered the biggest points (30 pts) to the teams was judged by Fr. Domie as Chairman with members Sis. Rose Mayo and Sis. Letty Bernardo. Emerging as winners were
First Place - Green Team
Second Place - Red Team
Third Place - Yellow Team
Fourth Place - Blue Team
The over-all Champion then went to the Green Team!
What could have been a better way to spend Fathers Day than celebrating Family Fun Day with the Mater Dei Marriage Encounter Community ? Where playing the games meant re-living the youthful days - funny and crazy , where winning in games samples on team-effort… where all kids went home with a toy on hand…. where every one had a sumptuous snack of Lomie ni Domie and a take home of Fiji apples …to the luckier ones, kilos of rice for a Bingo Prize…where fitness continues with a box of Vitahart (Omega 3)
Thanks to the efforts of the Traditional & Special Events Ministry headed by Shepherd Nelson Lilian Morales with its members Tony Beng Pizarro, Ric Sally Rey, Frankie Liezl Godalle. Giving added support were Shepherds Ben Letty Bernardo. Omar Rose Mayo, Abet Coy Pangcog, Joey Tong Petrache, Freddie Miriam Santos, Loren Weng Tabilog , Migo Len Vargas together with Class 149 and Class 152. |
