The MDMEC Board of Trustees and the Head Couples of the different ministries and apostolates held their Planning Session last October 25, 2009 at the NAPOCOR Canteen.

It was Bro. Rolly Malicdem who led the opening prayers followed by the Joyful songs led by some members of the Music Ministry .

In his opening remarks, President Sam Asia explained that the supposed pre-planning session was over-taken by typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng and the Board just acted on the proposals and recommendations submitted by each ministry and apostolate.

He thanked the Music Ministry for the successful concert for a cause they have spearheaded for the Community Center of our dream. The Concert was able to generate a net income of P420, 942.65 and the Board has earmarked the P300,000.00 as part of the Community Center Fund while P120,000.00 shall be placed in the Operating Fund for the programs and activities of the coming year.

Bro. Sam further explained that the Love Offerings and pledges (membership dues are earmarked for assistance to relatives of deceased members) can not fully support our Operating expenses, which is almost P1M, for next year. Although, as Bro. Sam said, we get a great help from the raffles and Golf Tournament which we hold yearly, we need to beef up our campaign for pledges from our members.

The Session moved on with the presentation of the plans and programs submitted by the respective heads of the ministries and apostolates.

Treasurer Vicky Contreras presented the financial report detailing the sources of revenues and the expenses incurred for the period January – September 2009. Sis. Vicky expressed concern on the need to closely monitor the submission of reports and remittances of the Sponsoring Classes for the MEW. She cited that most of the deficits incurred are attributed to the shortfalls in the solicitation efforts of the MEW Sponsoring Classes.

Later in the day, Sis Fe Guballa initiated a group dynamics tagged as “Building a Community.”

The exercise somehow threshed out the efforts and involvement of each member of the group. The dynamics made them see how far they can go and can give to achieve a certain goal- “building a community.”

The Teams consisted of : Group I Sam Asia, Pris Contreras, Cherry Manuel, Nancy Condes, Rose Araniego, Demet Araniego and Let Varilla. Group II Tom Co, Marian Co, Cecile Delgado, Mylene Pineda, Rolly Malicdem and Baby Pascual.
Group III Rene Manuel, Emma Garcia, Vicky Contreras, Jun Pineda, Jojie Guballa, Nono Delgado and Noni Pascual.

The session resumed with the plotting of Activities for the Calendar Year 2010. Other matter taken up was the participation of some representatives of the MDMEC in a Sunday TV Mass for Channel 5. Taping will be held at Sololux Bldg., Ateneo de Manila University on November 7 at 9am.

The Closing Prayer was led by Bro. Lorenz Tabilog.
