“Tara! Gimik tayo!” This is normally what the youth of today says and loves to do whenever the weekend draws near. Last November 20, 2010, Saturday, SADE (Son’s And Daughters Encounter) organized a “Gimik sa Bahay ni Lord” activity for its members. We visited 5 of our Lords’ place of worship: Parish of the Holy Sacrifice at UP Diliman, St. Claire at Katipunan, Mt. Carmel near Gilmore, The Pink Sister’s at Hemady and Christ the King at E.Rodriguez. The activity was attended by 14 Saders and we were accompanied by some of our Parents and Elders from FLA.
Normal youth activities like chatting with friends was replaced by praying and opening up our petitions and intentions to our Lord, movie watching was replaced by browsing through the different religious relics displayed in the churches, bar-hopping was replaced with church-hopping. Personal prayers were offered as we recited each mystery of the rosary. The event was capped by attending the anticipated mass at the Christ the King Parish.
The experience was really inspiring as it is refreshing to know that the youth of today still believes that time for our Lord is really important despite their busy lives. I am challenging all SADErs to dedicate more time to our Lord amidst their active lifestyle. Encourage your friends and your family to go with you and tell them… “Tara! Gimik tayo sa Bahay ni Lord!” |
